Its October!!

Its a good thing I'm a better mother than I am a blogger. Sheesh.

Harper will be 10 months in 10 days (on the 22nd). She's happy and healthy and a wonderful, wonderful baby. Her 9 month check-up was on the 29th of September. She weighed 22lbs 8ozs, which is the 95th percentile. She was 29.6 inches long/tall and rang in at the 100th percentile. She's got four teeth on the top and still just two on the bottom, though I think she's been working on some. She crawls very fast and loves to get away. If Jovie comes over to steal a toy, Harper holds it behind her and away from Jovie. She's picking up quickly on being a younger sister. She's still not signing (not from lack of trying on my part, though) and she's thinking about waving. She'll hold her hand up or she'll leave it down and kind of wiggle her fingers. She's a smart one though.

Jovie turned 3 earlier in September and is loving it. At her check-up she weighed 30lbs and is 38.5 inches tall. She talks CONSTANTLY. She's a very good big sister and loves Harper very much. When old ladies stop us in the store to talk to Harper, Jovie tells them, "That's MY baby." We're working on being more polite, but she's very protective of Harper. Jovie is so helpful and mostly good at minding. She's a pretty funny kid and just a very loving girl.

Our family is healthy and happy and we're so grateful for the blessings we have.

She Just Keeps 'Em Coming

We were going to Silver Dollar City this evening. So we left the house and were talking about getting dinner. Jovie said that she wanted to go to SDC, and I told her that we were going, but we had to eat dinner first. She was not happy. She said, "But I'm wearing my Silver Dollar City shirt." I said, "You are?" She was wearing an orange shirt with flowers. She said, "Yeah, its my SDC shirt. It says 'We're going to Silver Dollar City'."

Priceless Moments

We went to the health dept. today for Harper's shots. I was filling out a form at the desk and the lady was talking to Jovie. She said, "How old are you?" Jovie said, "Almost three." She said, "When do you turn three?" Jovie said, "On my birthday!"

Later we were waiting and there was a girl with her baby and Jovie wanted to know what the baby's name was. So, she said, "What's your baby's name?" She said, "His name is Ryan." Jovie said, "Nice to meet you. My name's Jovie and these are my friends, Mommy and Harper."

Yesterday Jovie picked up her baby and used the baby's hand to hit Harper. Then Jovie said, "That's a no-no, Baby. You have to sit in the corner and don't get up." So, she put the baby in the corner and then started the timer (Jovie gets 2 minutes). She's been especially rough with Harper this week, so I was kind of annoyed. I said, "Jovie, don't hit Harper. That isn't nice." Jovie looked at me and said, "I didn't hit her, the baby did."

Six Months! Yay!

Harper weighs 19lbs 7ozs and is 28" long. She's in the 93rd and 95th percentiles, but I can't remember which one is which. Suffice to say she is thriving! The doctor pulled up Jovie's 6-month stats and she weighed 3 pounds less but was only half an inch shorter. So, I guess I grow 'em tall! Harper has one little tooth that's broken out on the bottom and the second one isn't far behind. She's been surprisingly pleasant and they only seem to really bother her at night. She's starting to pull herself around now, kind of a modified army-crawl. I don't want to use the word "mobile" but she's moving with definite purpose. My house IS NOT ready for a baby. Just the pile of Jovie's toys is full of life-threatening hazards. Every time Harper finds something of Jovie's, Jovie yanks it out of her hand and says so sweetly, "That's a no-no, Harper." They're starting to get rough with each other. But they're both handling it well. Harper hasn't cried the last few times Jovie's hit/squished/sat on her. They're such good sisters.

I'm So Excited to See You!

Delila is Jovie's cousin and they're the same age. It had been a while since they'd seen each other. This was at church on Sunday:

Delila: Jovie, Hi!
Jovie: I'm not Jovie, I'm Cinderella.
D: Hi, Cinderella, I'm so excited to see you!
J: Who are you?
D: I'm just Delila, but I'm a ballerina.
J: You can't be a ballerina, it isn't Halloween.
D: Oh, okay!

And then they danced together.

Four Months!!

Harper had her four month check-up today. She just started wearing 6/9 month clothes, so I know she's not small. She weighs 16lbs 10ozs and is 26" long. She's in the 95th percentile for weight and the 93rd percentile for height. She started rolling from her tummy to her back a while ago, and earlier this week started rolling back to front. The last couple of days she's gotten really good at rolling around and is all over the floor. I think she's going to crawl a lot sooner than Jovie did. The dr said we can try cereal if we want, so I think that's in the near future. She's just a very happy, very healthy baby and we're so blessed to have her in our family!

BFF's

At dinner last night I said how much I love having a Harper and a Jovie. Daddy agreed. I asked Jovie if she's glad we have a Harper. Jovie said, "Yeah, Harper's my best friend." I love my kids so dang much.
